Admission Requirements

For EU applicants (nationals of a member state of the European Union):

  1. Proof of university entrance qualification in the student’s home country (e.g. High School Diploma, Matura, A-Levels, Bachillerato). They are verified on the basis of ‘anabin’, a database published by the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Federal States of Germany.
  2. Proof of required German language proficiency. Depending on the study programme: proof of German knowledge C1 level or A2 level is necessary. Applicants can acquire the necessary German language proficiency at a language school, like F+U Academy of Languages (www.fuu-languages.eu). At the 8-semester undergraduate programme for international students (in preparation for “Business Administration” and “Engineering and Management”) you will receive the proof of German knowledge C1 level during the first two semesters of your studies. (Please check the section “Language Requirements”)
  3. Work contract (“Praxisvertrag”) with partner company (iba assists students in finding a partner company and already maintains a network of more than 1,500 cooperating companies nationwide). There is currently no admission limit (Numerus Clausus).

For non-EU applicants:

  1. Proof of university entrance qualification which iba will check and verify. In case it is not directly accepted, applicants have the opportunity to take a so-called “Feststellungsprüfung“, an official assessment test for university entrance in Germany. (Different institutions offer preparatory courses for the exam, like F+U Academy of Languages. Visit www.fuu-languages.eu for more information.)
  2. A valid visa for study purposes. Conditions for receiving the visa can be found on the website of the German embassy in your home country. In general, embassies ask for proof of acceptance at a German university, good German knowledge as well as proof of sufficient financial resources. Applicants can also apply for a language course visa to take preparatory German classes. Please inquire at your local German embassy.
  3. Proof of required German language proficiency. Depending on the study programme: proof of German knowledge C1 level or A2 level is necessary. Applicants can acquire the necessary German language proficiency at a language school, like F+U Academy of Languages (www.fuu-languages.eu). For German applicants/applicants with permanent residence in Germany:

  1. One of the following degrees:
    General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur)
    Subject-linked higher education entrance qualification (fachgebundenes Abitur)
    Entrance qualification for studies at universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife)
    Master Craftsman Diploma (Meisterprüfung)
    Comparable degrees of vocational training (e.g. business administrator); graduates of technical colleges and of professions in the health, social care or social education sector.
    Individuals with vocational qualifications can also be granted admission to higher education institutions if they have successfully completed at least two years of professional training and are able to account for their work experience. Should your qualifications be missing from the list, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will  be glad to verify your university entrance qualification individually.
